First things first: For the first time ever, I am accepting independent sponsors. Check out all of the details on my newly created “Sponsors” page and get them before they go. Best of all, there are five FREE “swap spots” that are sure to go fast.
It’s also super easy to buy the ads, thanks to Passionfruit advertising services. So, no excuses… Act now!
I’ve never lived close to extended family, so it always seemed that visits were too few and far between.
After moving away for college, I began to feel the same way about visits with my parents and sister. But, my mom — who has lived on the complete opposite side of the country from her family at various times — said that her mom used to comfort her by saying, “Enjoy the time when you’re together and look forward to the next visit when you’re apart.”
In other words, there’s no point in dwelling on the inevitable “goodbye” while you are actually together. Pretty wise, isn’t it?
So, even though my mom and sister’s visit to Kansas was very brief, it was also very fun.
Marian and I spent some time joking around and taking pictures. Surprisingly typical.
The cats followed us around the whole time, so they made fun “props.”
The focal point of the visit, however, was our early morning visit to the annual Lawrence Sidewalk Sale. We scoped it all out the night before when we went downtown for dinner. Urban Outfitters was supposed to open at 5 a.m., so we knew it was going to be intense.
We kept things a bit more casual and showed up a bit before 7 a.m.
A few hours later, we made it back home with bags of bargain loot. I don’t buy clothes that often, so I am very excited to have some new things in my wardrobe.
Then, all too soon, my mom and sister had to take off — and I already can’t wait until I get to see them again!
