My Favorites: Best Blogs

by Emily on July 2, 2012

Throughout the past six months, my must-read list of blogs has undergone a major transformation.

In the past, I used to be hung up on “big” blogs… I reasoned that if the bloggers had thousands of readers, the content must be the best out there. Then I discovered some wonderful, smaller blogs.

No exaggeration: Life hasn’t been the same since.

These ladies talk about real things that really matter. Some of them inspire me and remind me how blogging can improve the way I live. Others put a smile on my face. Others motivate me to try new crafts or get creative in the kitchen.

My Favorite Newly Discovered Blogs

When I say “newly discovered,” I really mean it with Her New Leaf: I just found Kira’s blog last week! It didn’t take long for me to fall in love with the awesome “Primp My Blog” series. (I’ve already tried out some of her suggestions!)

From there, I’ve gone through pages and pages of Her New Leaf’s history — and added the blog to my reader so I can stay updated. One thing I already love about Her New Leaf is how well-rounded Kira’s subjects are.

Mrs. Alana’s Miscellany was one of the first “young and married” blogs I found. I was first drawn in by the fact Alana’s a Nebraska transplant — but it was her fun stories and personality that have made me stick around. I also give her credit for navigating a new state while her husband is in the Air Force.

The very first day I read Alyx’s blog, Every Day is a New Adventure, I emailed her to share my enthusiasm about all of our similarities. Like me, she’s a Nebraska adoptee who has also spent time living in Germany! (Clearly it doesn’t that much to excite me…)

As with Alana’s blog, I’ve continued reading Every Day is a New Adventure because of Alyx’s breezy and humorous writing.

Nicole from Nicoladee is one of the bloggers you can tell is a genuinely lovely person — even from across the computer screen. That’s saying something in this world where a blogger’s persona may be totally different from her real-life personality (and in a disappointing kind of way).

She’s also a really great inspiration for faith. Not only does the girl travel around the globe to assist orphans in China, but she also keeps God at the center of her daily life. I continue to learn from that influence.

Now it’s your turn: What are your favorite recently discovered blogs?
