On the Menu, 9/22

by Emily on September 21, 2012

I entered my Island Cookie Bars in Just a Pinch Recipe Club a contest months ago and it was just announced that I was a runner-up. As a prize, I received my very own chef hat in the mail today. Pretty fancy, huh?

The main thing I am excited about today, though, is FALL! Without a doubt, it’s my favorite season of the year. What’s not to like about crisp weather, beautiful colors, pumpkin-flavored foods and my birthday? If Mother Nature ever asks my opinion, I would suggest that autumn last for 350 days of the year. Five days each are sufficient for the other seasons.

Dan and I have been pretty busy during the days, but we’ve made a point to enjoy the weather by eating dinner outside each night. It also helps that his mom scored a great deal on a new patio set, so we’re dining in style. (I’m going to do a final “deck reveal” next week. It’s my favorite part of the house!)

It also looks like the cravings for hearty dishes has finally set in. This week, I kept being attracted to pastas, soups and casseroles — everything that’s warm and filling! Here are some of my top picks for fall…

The Details

Of note: I am vegetarian and Dan eats meat. Generally, I make vegetarian entrees with meat on the side.

What are you cooking this week?
