I’m scheduling this post to go up at 4 p.m., because that is the time — exactly one year ago — the church doors opened and I saw Dan at the end of the aisle.
I’m also scheduling it for 4 p.m. because, by that time, Dan will be done with his day of work at his internship near Wichita and I will be there to surprise him.
Here’s the deal: We didn’t think we were going to see each other on our first wedding anniversary. Sad, right?
For the second year in a row, Dan was assigned a less-than-ideal internship that takes him away from three hours away from home for a month. Last week, I went down to see him, which helped the week go by more quickly. This week, though, my mom and sister are coming to visit and — because Dan and I were just together during the weekend — we didn’t think it was “worth” me driving down for our anniversary on Monday.
I have a sneaking suspicion that we’ll feel different when I’m there.
I don’t know much about Wichita, so I’m going off the suggestion of a friend who said there’s a great dine-in movie theaters downtown. So, even though the “watching the new Spider-Man movie” isn’t the best anniversary celebration ever, it will still be fun because Dan and I will be together.
One year later and that’s still all that matters.
